Postdoctoral position available (Newcastle, Quantum gases)

Research Assistant/Associate (Quantum Gases): Applications are invited for a researcher position in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, to work with Dr Thomas Billam on the EPSRC funded project “Dirty Bosons Out of Equilibrium”. While the equilibrium phases of interacting bosons in disordered potentials have long been studied, the non-equilibrium dynamics of this so-called “dirty boson problem” remain largely unexplored. You will develop theoretical numerical models of ultracold Bose gases in disordered environments based on c-field methods, and use them to explore the non-equilibrium dynamics of phase transitions, and of superfluid turbulence, in such gases.
