My PhD work concerns light interacting with atomic vapours, involving electromagnetically-induced transparency and long-range dipole-dipole interaction between Rydberg states leading to blockade. Such systems provide a means of controlling interactions between photons for applications in quantum information such as single photon sources, quantum gates and quantum storage. My supervisors are Robert Potvliege and Charles Adams.
Born in north Wales, home is Manchester and I spent two years living in Stockholm, Sweden. My interests are physics, mathematics and computer science and I love that I get to work at the intersection of these fields for my PhD. When I'm not working I enjoy running, mountaineering, kayaking and writing music.
