Kevin Weatherill was born in Hartlepool in the north east of England. He graduated with MPhys (Hons) in Physics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001 and following a career break, a PhD in Physics from Durham University in 2007. In 2012, Kevin became Lecturer in Physics at Durham University.
Dr. Weatherill's main research interests are in cold ion and electron sources and their applications. He also conducts research in Rydberg non-linear optics and hybrid quantum systems.
Dr. Weatherill is a member of the Higher Education Academy, member of the Institute of Physics, member of the IoP’s Quantum Optics, Quantum Information and Quantum Control group committee and EPSRC college reviewer.
